The turquoise French terry has a very substantial hand while remaining soft. Its smooth surface has a matte appearance. Loops are present on the wrong side, on the underside of the French terry. The fabric retains a stable shape and drapes gently. Saturated turquoise can be left on a large piece where the knit itself is clearly visible.

Softness and knit construction

A weight of 580 GSM gives the fabric noticeable heft. The composition is 100% cotton. The French terry is thick, substantial, compact, and fully opaque. It remains delicate and pleasant against the skin. The soft drape can be assessed on a larger piece, while the thickness of a finish can be checked on a sample of several layers. It is particularly worth checking where a hem crosses a seam.

Turquoise on a smooth surface

The color can be paired with navy, white, or gray. With a strong color, assess accessory proportions using actual samples. Matte French terry and ribbing have different textures, so view the whole combination before cutting. The looped underside will be visible at an exposed turnback. This detail can be compared beside the smooth side to check the size of the area showing the wrong surface.

Fabric behavior, cutting, and preparation for sewing

The fabric is non-stretch and holds its shape well. The pattern should provide the necessary ease through appropriate circumferences and openings. Layer thickness must also be considered in finishes. The French terry is intended for year-round use, including sweatshirts, pants, children's clothing, and bathrobes. In these uses, the feel of the seam on the inside will matter. A join sample will show the edge's thickness, arrangement, and softness. Make it with the same number of layers as the intended area to assess the actual bulk of the finish. The way the fabric behaves during wear should also be considered during cutting and preparation of finishes. Before choosing a pattern, check a sample and the planned ease. The fabric is 160 cm wide. Position the pattern pieces on freely resting fabric, supporting the part beyond the table. A test seam will show the movement of joined layers and the finish's thickness. Assess it flat and under gentle tension, according to the needs of the particular piece. The smooth outer side can be used in solid-colored designs. For multilayer joins, select the stitch for their thickness beforehand so the entire finish lies as intended.

Care and durability

The knit has a silicone finish and resists abrasion, pilling, distortion, and stretching out. It stands up well to frequent washing and retains its shape and color afterward. Low shrinkage helps maintain piece sizes, while a low tendency to wrinkle makes care easier.
