This is a very lightweight interlock made of 100% Supima cotton. In the hand it feels soft, smooth, and gentle, while the matte black looks even across a larger area. At 145 GSM, the knit drapes fluidly and works well where the fabric should remain lightweight after sewing as well.

The fabric in practice

The surface is understated, even, and pleasant to the touch. The width of 175 cm provides plenty of room for larger pieces. The knit is stretchy and recovers its shape well after stretching. The fabric drapes well, falls softly, and retains its shape at the same time. This allows a larger piece to retain a soft, three-dimensional appearance. The black knit is slightly sheer, especially when stretched. The fabric's stability makes stitching easier, but the finished edge should remain lightweight.

Uses in finished styles

In a lightweight blouse, top, or T-shirt, the knit moves freely, while on the table it remains stable enough for even cutting lines. T-shirts, tops, lightweight long-sleeve tees, blouses, tunics, and simple dresses suit this weight. The fabric can also be used for underwear, pajamas, and lightweight children's clothing, especially where a soft hand and breathability are desired.

Planning and cutting

Deep black emphasizes the fabric's smoothness and allows a simple cut to be used. Make use of this when planning the fit, but check the actual range of stretch in both directions before sewing. The body, longer sleeves, or a larger panel can be laid out with comfortable spacing between pieces.

Sewing and finishing

With such a light knit, edge quality and hemming method are particularly important in a lightweight construction. A test seam will also show whether the chosen finish retains freedom of movement similar to the fabric itself. For closer-fitting styles, check a single and double layer. The fabric is breathable and gentle on the skin, making it suitable for lightweight layers worn directly against the body as well. With a lightweight knit, reserve a scrap for testing a hem, neckline, and an area where two or three layers meet. At a light weight, check how the knit responds to a double-fold hem and several layers in one area. A small scrap is enough to compare two finishing options and choose the one that best preserves Supima's soft character. The silicone finish supports a soft, smooth hand.

Care and durability

The lightweight interlock retains its shape after washing. In lightweight Supima, low shrinkage helps maintain dimensions, while a low tendency to wrinkle supports an even surface. Resistance to pilling, abrasion, stretching out, and frequent washing suits lightweight pieces worn regularly.
